A picture you build one pearl at a time

Each kit starts as a square canvas printed with a numbered colour chart. Dip the pen in the wax, lift a pearl or a faceted drill, and press it onto the matching square. Section by section the picture rises off the canvas, and by the end you have a piece of Christmas art with real texture you made yourself.

Thirteen designs to choose from

Penguins, reindeer, owls, a fox in a Santa hat, a teddy bear with a lantern, a sleigh and a woodland scene. They share warm cream, red and gold tones, so two or three of them look good hung side by side.

What comes in the box

The printed canvas, sorted bags of pearls and faceted drills, a drill pen, a tray and a wax pad. Choose a framed size and the wooden frame is included too, so it is ready to stand or hang as soon as the last pearl goes on.

How it comes together

Pour a few pearls into the tray, touch the pen to the wax and pick them up one by one. Match the symbol on the canvas to the bag and press. It is calm, unhurried work that is easy to put down and pick up again between evenings.

Finished and framed

Round pearls give snow, fur and beards a soft raised texture, while the faceted drills catch the light from candles and tree lights. Framed, it sits happily on a mantel, a shelf or a side table all through December.
